Our mission is to educate the launch driver to handle motor crafts safely, while coaching crew shells.

The safety training program is NASBLA certified and based on the US Sailing and US Powerboating education models.

Training is in the proper use of power boats from lake to river to tidal waters.

Foundation for Rowing Education Receives US Coast Guard Grant

The Foundation for Rowing Education, Inc. (FRE) has been awarded a major grant from the United States Coast Guard to expand its Safety Launch Training Program for rowing coaches.


This program, established in 2007 through a U.S. Coast Guard seed grant, provides intensive education for launch drivers who need to handle motorcraft safely under the challenging circumstances of coaching crew shells. Certified by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators (NASBLA), the Safety Launch Training Program is to be offered at locations around the country.
